What is asbestos remediation?
Asbestos remediation is the process of managing any asbestos-containing materials found in your property to ensure the materials are not damaged. It is often thought that asbestos-containing materials could only be properly managed through removal, however this is not the case. With asbestos remediation, there are other options, such as encapsulation, repair and regular monitoring which can ensure that the ACMs remain in good condition and therefore at a low-risk level.
Proper remediation of asbestos materials is critical as, although asbestos is a naturally occurring fibre, the dangers it poses to human health are great. For many years now, the dangers of asbestos have been well-documented and because of this, the industry is tightly controlled by UK laws and legislation with the aim to minimise the exposure to asbestos fibres.
When is asbestos remediation required?
