Exposure to disturbed asbestos fibres within the fabric of a building, due to refurbishment or demolition works for example, can have a very serious impact on an individual’s health – causing diseases such as mesothelioma, asbestosis and pleural thickening. That is why it’s vital for asbestos removal works to be carried out at premises where there is a suspected presence of the material, or at premises where renovation or demolition projects are due to be undertaken.
Firstly, an asbestos survey will determine the presence, type and quantity of asbestos while also assessing its condition (some asbestos-containing materials, or ACMs, are safe to be left in situ with regular compliance checks carried out). The samples taken during the survey will be sent to an independent UKAS-accredited laboratory for microscopic testing. This will confirm the presence and type of asbestos.
If the presence of asbestos is confirmed, asbestos removal works should be the next step. Our fully trained, experienced and competent asbestos contractors will implement control measures where asbestos removal is due to take place. This will include a seal to ensure asbestos fibres do not infest any surrounding areas. Our operatives will safely and compliantly remove all ACMs on-site to make sure there is no longer a risk to health for building users. These materials will then be sent to a specialist asbestos waste disposal site.
Our specialist removal teams will then undertake a thorough cleaning process to remove debris from the premises, including vacuuming, surface cleaning, visual inspections and air monitoring.
