What Is Asbestos Removal?
Asbestos removal refers to the process of removing any asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) that have been identified and tested at a UKAS independent laboratory after an asbestos survey has been undertaken at your premises to confirm the presence, type and quantity of asbestos at hand.
Once removal has been identified as the tool to manage the risk of asbestos within your property, our licensed asbestos removal specialists will implement control measures where the process is due to take place, such as seals and enclosures. These measures will ensure that any asbestos fibres do not contaminate surrounding areas. The level of control measures implemented will depend on the type of asbestos at hand (the three main types include chrysotile or white asbestos, crocidolite or blue asbestos and amosite or brown asbestos) and the condition of the ACMs. If they are damaged, worn, crumbled or broken – the control measures will need to be stricter in order to mitigate the risk of asbestos fibres becoming airborne.
Once our certified asbestos removal team has safely and compliantly removed all ACMs, ensuring no risk to health, the materials will then be sent to a specialist asbestos waste disposal site. Subsequently, our asbestos contractors will undergo a thorough cleaning process on-site, to remove any leftover debris from the removal service. This includes vacuuming, surface cleaning, visual inspections and air monitoring.
