Where Is Asbestos Found In Leisure Facilities?
The most common places to find asbestos in leisure facilities (e.g. shops, gyms, cinemas, etc.) include, but are not limited to, the following:

How Dangerous Is Asbestos In Leisure Facilities?
The above list of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) were collectively made using a mix of all three asbestos types – chrysotile (white) asbestos, crocidolite (blue) asbestos and amosite (brown) asbestos.
Chrysotile, or white asbestos, has soft, curved and flexible serpentine fibres that have the ability to spread quickly, and readily (if disturbed), across the environment. Crocidolite, or blue asbestos, has extremely fine, brittle and needle-like amphibole fibres that are highly durable and heat-resistant. Commonly found in asbestos cement sheets, floor tiles and AIB, crocidolite’s thin and sharp fibres can easily infiltrate the lungs or abdomen. Similarly, amosite, or brown asbestos, also has fine, sharp and needle-like amphibole fibres that were widely used in asbestos ceiling tiles, fireproof products and gaskets due to their durable and heat-resistant properties. When disturbed, its extremely thin fibres will readily release and be quickly inhaled.
The inhalation of any ACM can pose serious health risks, including but not limited to:
- Mesothelioma
- Asbestosis
- Lung cancer
- Pleural thickening
